Having your dog professionally groomed on a regular basis is an essential part of his or her care.
Regular grooming will promote well being ensuring your dog is comfortable and free from the irritation of dead hair build up so he or she will always look their best and so will your carpet!!
Read on to find out how a visit to our grooming salon will ensure your dog leaves in tip top shape!
When your dog visits us for a full clip he/she will receive the following treatments:
• Thorough grooming to remove all dead hair and tangles and whatever else your dog may have picked out walking!
• Nail cutting – keeping the toenails neat and stops the risk of long nails catching or growing back into the pad.
• Ear cleaning – many breeds require the hair to be plucked from the ear canal to prevent ear infections and ear canker – all dogs have their ears cleaned to remove wax and debris.
• Teeth cleaning – many of us are plagued with the all too familiar doggy breath! We will brush your dogs teeth and will also attempt routine de scaling of the teeth to remove tartar build up. Please note we cannot tackle severe cases of tooth decay but we can certainly advise that a visit to the vet is needed.
• Bathing – all dogs are bathed using hypoallergenic shampoos and conditioners. We stock a range of products and will select according to your dogs coat and skin requirements. If you have a shampoo recommended by your veterinary surgeon, bring this with you for us to use.
• Styling using clippers and scissors – whatever breed of dog you own we are fully trained and work to the guidelines set out by the City and Guilds examination for pet dog trims. However, feel free to speak to us about you and your dogs individual needs we aim to provide you with a trim that suits your lifestyle and provides your dog with a comfortable style.
Handstripping
The Grooming Room is pleased to offer hand stripping as one of its services, if you have a breed that is traditionally hand stripped and you are keen to opt for this then we would be happy to check your dogs coat for suitability.
Doggy MOT’s
Book your dog in for a complete service!
You may wander what is an MOT?
This is quite simply a bathing service with a difference, many mobile grooming services offer bathing and this is exactly what you will get however an MOT offers a lot more such as:
• Thorough grooming prior to bathing to remove dead coat and tangles
• Nail trimming
• Ear cleaning and plucking if required
• Tooth care
• Bathing and drying
• Coat conditioning spray
MOT Prices are as follows:
Small dogs £15
Medium dogs £20
Large dog £23
Giant dogs £28
MOT’s are ideal for dogs that do not need a full grooming service but would benefit from a good grooming and freshen up or could be for dogs in between trims that just need a spruce up! All shapes and sizes welcome.

Clearly there are many breeds missing from the above list, this list is created including the breeds that most frequently visit the grooming room, if you cannot find your breed of dog in the above list then this does not mean you are not catered for! Please call or ask and we will be happy to give you an individual price.
Extra charges!
Although we realise that grooming is hard work and we don’t mind getting our hands dirty if we find that your dog is very matted and it takes much longer for us to do the job you will be expected to pay an extra charge, the rate is £5 per half hour – if you are worried about how much the groom will cost you we will give you a price on inspection of the dogs coat before you leave.
Salon Hours
We open at 9am till 5.30 pm Monday to Thursday
You may bring dogs in for grooming between 9am and 10am
Early Drop offs.
Staff start work here at the kennels at 7.30 am and dogs may be dropped off for grooming anytime after this although this must be arranged in advance as the kennels is not open for business until 9am. The procedure is that the main reception door will be left open for you but the sign will remain closed, you need to come into the main reception and press the bell for attention and one of the kennel staff will come and take your dog. The staff do not have grooming experience and therefore will not be able to discuss your dogs trim so please either speak to grooming staff on the telephone when making your grooming appointment or write down your instructions and leave a contact number for us to call you.
Your dog’s day:
On arrival your dog will be settled into his/her purpose built holding pen in the grooming salon with some fleece bedding and water – this will give the dog on opportunity to settle into the surroundings and relax before we begin.
Your dog will then be groomed, clipped were applicable and have toenails trimmed and teeth and ears cleaned.
Before bathing we will take dogs for a short walk in our own grass exercise area.
Now your dog will be bathed and dried.
The morning’s activities will no doubt be tiring and dogs are now allowed time to rest/sleep in their holding pens.
If your dog is usually fed during the day – why not bring the food along and we will offer your dog a meal at lunchtime.
After a chance for a rest dogs are walked again and then the scissor finishing is done – to finish with all dogs have their coats groomed through with Evening Primrose Finishing Spray and go back to their pens to rest until you arrive to collect them.
We find that this system works well for the dogs that visit our salon as they are given time to accustom to their surroundings and we can take our time with the trims.
Visiting the grooming salon can be a little overwhelming for some dogs and if they are not having to be rushed and are given ample opportunity to rest the day is an enjoyable experience rather than a stressful one!
To ensure we have enough time to spend on each dog that we groom we ask that owners pick their dogs up after 4pm. If you need to collect your dog earlier for any reason then this should not be a problem but you must organise a suitable time in advance of the appointment day.
Dogs must be collected by 6pm.
Puppies are welcome to the salon as soon as they have completed their vaccinations.
A MOT would be a brilliant option to accustom your new puppy to the grooming processes – sooner the better, don’t leave it too late -this is an essential part of their education!
